Before a woman gets in touch with me, she’s usually given it quite a bit of thought. About herself, about her body, about whether ‘something like that’ is really right for her. And about lots of little questions that she sometimes hardly dares to ask herself.
So, first of all: there’s no such thing as a silly or embarrassing question as far as I’m concerned. I’ve heard them all before – and I’m happy to answer any of them. Here are the most common ones, compiled from many preliminary discussions.
About you and your body
Do I have to be slim, young or ‘photogenic’?
No. Really not. Boudoir photography isn’t designed for a specific dress size or age group, but for women who want to treat themselves. Whether you’re petite or curvy, whether you’re 25 or 65 – with the right lighting and the right poses, every body looks beautiful. Incidentally, being ‘photogenic’ isn’t a natural trait, but a matter of lighting and guidance. And that’s my job.
I have stretch marks, scars or cellulite. Is that a problem?
Not at all. These aren’t flaws, but traces of your life. Using light, pose and framing, I’ll showcase your body in such a way that you recognise yourself in it – and find it beautiful. Temporary things like a spot or bra marks will be removed during editing. Whatever is part of you is allowed to stay.
I’ve never posed in front of a camera before. Will it still be okay?
That’s exactly why! The vast majority of my clients have absolutely no experience. I’ll show you every pose, tell you where to put your hands and where to look, and demonstrate it for you – even if I look a bit silly doing it myself sometimes. You don’t need to know how to do anything. You can just be there.
What if I’m really nervous?
Then you’re in good company. Almost every woman feels a bit nervous at the start. We begin in a relaxed atmosphere with a coffee, a bit of music and the first few, very simple photos. Usually, the nerves have disappeared after about ten minutes – at the very latest when I show you the first few shots on the screen.
About the photoshoot
Do I have to take my clothes off?
No. You decide what you wear and what you show – from lingerie to an oversized shirt, right through to fully clothed, partially nude or nude shots. We’ll discuss this in detail during the preliminary consultation, and you can change your mind at any time during the shoot. Incidentally, many of the most beautiful pictures are actually taken with more fabric than you might think.
What should I wear?
Anything that makes you feel comfortable and a bit special: lingerie, a bodysuit, an oversized shirt, a jumper, a dress, stockings, jewellery. Feel free to bring more than you think you’ll need – we’ll sort through it together. Before the shoot, you’ll receive a detailed guide with tips on outfits, styling and the shoot schedule.
Will I have my make-up done?
We’re happy to arrange this on request. Depending on the package, professional make-up and hair styling are either included or can be booked as an extra. An experienced make-up artist will ensure that you feel beautiful from the very first moment – and look the part in the photos afterwards.
How long does a photo shoot take?
Depending on the package, it takes anywhere from about an hour and a half to a whole afternoon. We always allow plenty of time for arriving, getting changed and taking breaks. There’s no rush with me.
Where will the photoshoot take place?
In my studio in Lower Bavaria: a small, charming, fully equipped studio that’s completely private. For special photo shoots, there’s also a luxurious bathroom, a hayloft-style attic and – in summer – a large, secluded garden with a swimming pool.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course – your best friend, your sister or whoever else you’d like to have by your side. And if you’d feel more comfortable with a woman in the room: my wife can be there for the entire shoot if you’d like. There’s no extra charge for that.
Isn’t it strange working with a male photographer?
That’s a valid question, and I take it very seriously. I have clear rules: I explain every pose beforehand, I never touch you without asking, you get changed in a lockable room, and ‘no’ always means ‘no’. Many clients tell me afterwards that they’d forgotten about the camera after just a few minutes. You can find out more about this in my article ‘Boudoir with a man behind the camera?’.
Are there any dogs in the studio?
Yes – two very friendly and laid-back dogs. Lots of clients love to have a quick cuddle with them before the shoot. If you don’t like dogs or are allergic, just let us know, and the two of them will stay in their own area on the day.
About your photos
Who will see my images?
Just you – and me. Your photos are stored in a private, password-protected online gallery. I will not publish a single photo without your express, written consent. Not on my website, not on social media, nor anywhere else. Discretion is a matter of course for me.
When will I receive my images?
About two weeks after the shoot, you’ll see a shortlist in your online gallery, where you can simply select your favourites. You’ll then usually receive the fully edited images about three weeks later – available to download in high resolution, or as an album or print if you wish.
How are the images edited?
With great care and in my own warm, timeless style. I retouch the photos subtly and naturally – I want you to recognise yourself in the pictures. I don’t alter body shapes. If there’s anything in particular that’s important to you, let’s discuss it beforehand.
Can I give the photos to my partner as a present?
Of course! Lots of women treat themselves to a photo shoot as a present – for a wedding anniversary, a birthday or just because. A lovingly designed album makes for a particularly lovely gift. But to be honest: most of them realise at some point that the greatest gift was actually the one they gave themselves.
About booking and costs
How much does a boudoir photoshoot cost?
There are three packages – ranging from a compact photo shoot with a few beautifully edited images to a whole afternoon including make-up, hair styling and a photo album. You can find all the details on the booking page. During our initial consultation, we’ll work out together which package suits you best.
Do I have to make a binding booking straight away?
No. You can book a preferred date free of charge via the online calendar. It only becomes binding after our initial consultation – once you feel confident and have made a conscious decision to go ahead.
Can I give a session as a gift?
Yes, there are gift vouchers available for any package or for a specific amount – elegantly wrapped on request. A wonderful gift for a woman you want to show just how beautiful she is.
I’m still not sure. What should I do now?
That’s exactly what the initial consultation is for. We’ll have a phone chat or meet up for a coffee at the studio; you can ask any questions you might have and take your time to see how I work. Afterwards, you can decide – with no pressure and no obligation.
If you’d like to find out for yourself whether boudoir photography is right for you, feel free to take my quick self-assessment. It only takes two minutes.
Was your question not listed?
Then just drop me a line. I’ll answer every question personally – even the ones you might not have dared to ask here. I promise.
Real. Sensual. Unapologetically You.
